I am a dancer, choreographer, dance educator, and advocate for young artists. My focus is on storytelling, which I see as a bridge between learning, performing, and discovering the authentic self. Movement is universal and reaches past the boundaries of culture, language, gender, and social economics. My work is motivated by many influences from music, nature, art, literature, and theater. I explore organic movement that is grounded in the earth as my aesthetic. In dance, I identify with various genres. I am interested in the intersection of craft, artistry, and somatic awareness. My work forms from many years spent as a performing artist. My passion lies in creating movement and crafting experiences that support a dancer’s well-being as I now exist on the other side of the experience. I believe a choreographer’s commitment to being aware and informed creates a healthier atmosphere for the dancer to expand their capabilities. If an artist understands how their body moves, endless possibilities arise. As we discover the self, we explore our connection to the world around us, and it is through that connection that artistry emerges.
